 The Presentation: 

Employers are looking for ways to help struggling employees during this time of uncertainty and stress.  The federal government has responded to employee needs by passing legislation significantly changing the way that we administer employee benefit plans.  Come to this seminar to hear about helpful defined contribution, defined benefit and health and welfare plan developments.  

Topics to be discussed include:

  • The Families First Coronavirus Act impact on group health plans
  • The CARES Act impact on retirement plans and group health plans
  • Benefits during a furlough, unpaid leave or upon severance

Our Speakers: 

Kevin Selzer, JD, Holland & Hart LLP

Kevin focuses on a variety of employee benefit matters, including the design and implementation of qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, and equity compensation arrangements.

He advises clients on executive compensation issues involving Code Sections 409A, 457, 280G, 162(m), and 83. Kevin helps employers ensure compliance with the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and related laws. He also often conducts compliance reviews in various areas, such as tax qualification, COBRA compliance, and fiduciary compliance matters.

Kevin earned his LLM at the University of Denver, JD at University of Kansas and his BA at Truman State University.


Hitz Burton, JD, Partner, Aon

Hitz is a Partner and a senior legal consultant for Aon where he provides advice to clients regarding plan governance, fiduciary responsibilities, the design and administration of their qualified and non-qualified retirement plans as well as their other benefit programs and policies.Hitz has extensive experience with the issues that impact qualified plans and their administration following merger and acquisition as well as other restructuring activity. 

Hitz earned a B.A. from Hamilton College (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the bar of Massachusetts.

Hitz is a current Board member and President of the Orange County Chapter of the Western Pension & Benefits Council.


Jeff Belfiglio, JD, Partner, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP

Jeff Belfiglio works with clients to find creative ways to structure their benefits plans and keep them in compliance. He guides clients through a wide range of issues, including plan mergers, spinoffs, terminations, and restructuring in corporate transactions. Many of Jeff’s projects are the result of benefits advisors or auditors finding issues but realizing that the employer needs experienced guidance to find the most practical solution.

Jeff earned his J.D. at Stanford Law School, Order of the Coif and a B.A., summa cum laude, Saint Louis University.
