Voluntary Closing Agreements—

The Non-EPCRS Correction Program



 The Presentation: 

Scott E. Galbreath, J.D., LL.M. (Tax) will discuss fixing plan issues that do not qualify for correction under the Employee Plans Correction Resolution System through the Employee Plans Voluntary Closing Agreement Program.  He will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of closing agreements.  Scott will also present some case studies of issues that have been resolved through the program. 

Attendees will learn:

  • What is a closing agreement?
  • What is the EP Voluntary Closing Agreement Program?
  • What can be corrected under the program?
  • What is the procedure for applying under the program?

Our Speaker:  Scott E. Galbreath, J.D., LL.M. (Tax)

Scott is the leader of the Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice at Murphy Austin and has over 30 years’ experience practicing employee benefits and tax law.  He is a Certified specialist in Taxation Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization, a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefit Counsel, the President of the Sacramento Chapter of the National Institute of Pension Administrators, a former President and current board member of the Sacramento Chapter of Western Pension & Benefits Council and the creator and author of the Benefit of Benefits blog. An interesting fact, Scott was the principal designer of the current WP&BC logo.
